Here's a recap of last Saturday's Valentine's Day Lesson!!
Our Verse of the week: Greater love has no one than this: that he lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:13
We discussed that Jesus laid down His life for us. Since we also have been looking at the Disciples, you can notice almost every one of them laid down their life for the sake of the gospel. But Jesus did it first, He is the greatest love.
Our passage in the Bible: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails.
This chapter of the Bible is referred to as the love chapter. (In your free time I encourage you to read the chapter)
These verses in particular are a list of what love is and what love isn't.
This list may seem impossible but when you look at verse 8, "Love never fails". It seems like a subtle hint that points to Jesus because He is the only one that has never failed.
You can replace the word love and it with Jesus in this passage and it still remains true.
We talked about relationships and how most people think a romantic relationship with someone is where you find love. The truth is a relationship is where you are supposed to share the love that you already found in your relationship with God. It is so important to establish a relationship with God to know love. God loves you!
